My first step into a mystical Irish journey

I’m writing to you on Friday, Aug 25th with less than three short days before I board a plane for Ireland. I’m excited and a bit terrified. I’ve never been gone from home for so long to a country I don’t know but feel inexplicably drawn to.

And I’ve never had a more open travel plan. A strange and uncomfortable sensation for my practical, analytical mind. I’m definitely stepping out of my box by taking this trip and I’m destroying the container so I won’t be tempted to crawl back in.

When I began with the planning by looking for a place to stay, I came across a picture of what to me looks like a giant, old country cistern. Without knowing a thing about it, I knew I had to see it. I researched and learned the site is called Newgrange and so far, this is the only place I feel absolutely pulled to.

Newgrange is at least 600 years older than the Giza Pyramids in Egypt, and 1,000 years older than Stonehenge. The ancient builders constructed the inner passage, chamber, and roof without mortar, grooved the top stones to redirect water, and filled in the roof stones with sea sand that keeps the structure perfectly dry. No small feat considering the amount of rain Ireland gets.

Another mystical feature of Newgrange is that it’s perfectly aligned with the Winter Solstice. The light of the rising sun enters a bank of window openings near the roof and shines onto the floor of the inner chamber illuminating the space for 17 minutes. The sunbeam is so accurate that it can be used to determine the exact day of solstice. Sort of an Indiana Jones kind of mystery, don’t you think?

I wanted to visit on the 30th—the first full day in Ireland. I learned Newgrange is a popular tourist destination and nearly impossible to access unless you’re with a group. But I was determined. I figured out the date I’d have to buy online tickets and sat in front of my computer on that day waiting for 6pm which is midnight Ireland time.

At 5:55pm my whole head tingled and I knew I’d get the tickets. I pushed the buy button exactly at 6pm and was shocked to discover the 11am morning tour was already sold out. I managed to snag the 9am tour and by the time you read this I will already have been inside Newgrange marveling and learning from the first of my many healing steps along my journey of inner discovery. I can’t wait to share my experience with you.

Enjoy your every step of self-discovery, and I wish you many blessings from the magical Emerald Isle.

And as always, I’m available for private sessions if you need deeper understanding, support, or guidance in the form of energy work or intuitive life coachingClick this link to schedule.
