How to rebuild sleep as coherence
I’ve always been a light sleeper. I hear everything. Wind. Creaks. Weird sounds. It feels like I’m always on guard the second I lie down, like I keep one eye open the entire night.
Oddly enough, the only time I remember having to be woke up by someone was the morning of my wedding. My mom had to shake me awake. So funny. I guess I was at complete peace with my decision. Or maybe on some level I knew that once I said “I do,” it would be the end of uninterrupted sleep. From that day forward it seems I’ve been listening in my sleep for any signs of trouble with my loved ones.
I think many of us have this sleep issue. You get used to listening for the kids, pets, partners, weather, intruders while sleeping and it becomes a habit even after the kids are long gone. And as an intuitive, I also feel or sense frequency patterns everywhere all the time. It’s difficult for me to sleep in my own home let alone when I’m traveling.
Some mornings I wake exhausted and know I’ve been working with people in my sleep. I’ve had a couple beautiful clients call and thank me for helping them while they were dreaming. My hubby will even say, so who were you working on last night?
Now, I can usually set an intention to keep everything out of my field except pure conscious love, but since January of this year something feels different. The full moons have been especially intense for me with alignment and clarity, but during these times I’m fortunate to get any sleep at all.
I’m not a napper and I’m rarely tired, but my body has gotten achy. I know my body needs rest to function properly. Everyone’s does. If sleep experts are right, we need at least 2 hours of undisturbed non-REM deep sleep to repair our body.
So, this leaves me with a dilemma—how am I going to break the habit of not sleeping?
It came to me to create a new pre-sleep closure ritual and I’m sharing it with you in case you struggle this way too. I’ve just started doing this so it may take a little time for my body and mind to integrate it. Anyway, here’s what I’ve been doing this past week:
I get centered in my being, usually by taking a deep breath. Then I speak quietly to myself, “All frequencies return to Source. I am not needed now. I release the role of resonance keeper.”
I touch my feet and close all body exit nodes.
I then say, “This night, I rest for myself. I ask for simple tone. No missions. Just mending.”
I then see in my mind’s eye the gentle closing of a door. I say, “Nothing needs guarding. I rest, not retreat. It’s safe to relax while remaining aware. I no longer need to protect against anything. My rest is a reunion.”
And that’s it. I’m retraining my brain to stand down, no more guarding anything. It’s not necessary. I’ve had one night of fairly good success, only woke up once, but now we have the full moon again. LOL
