What can an acorn teach you?

I was reading a Nora Roberts book the other day and one of the characters said this: “I had no passion for anything and there’s a horrible kind of emptiness to that.”

I’ve been thinking about that quote quite a lot. It’s something I think most of us have felt in some way at some point in our life. We call it boredom, or a funk we’re in. Sometimes, when we’re being honest with ourselves, we may even admit we don’t feel like we’re living our purpose—that somehow there should be more than what we’re experiencing. Everything just feels sort of same old, same old.

It's an odd thing to feel, if you ever have, especially when it seems nothing in particular is wrong. Your needs are met, there’s nothing you want, yet the feeling is real and persistent. It’s stuck deep down inside where you can’t quite get at it. It’s just there. An unease that beckons for release but gives no answer for how to do that. The things that used to make you happy or give you fulfillment no longer do. You may begin to wonder what’s wrong with you?

If this is happening to you, please know there’s nothing wrong with you. What you are experiencing is a shift in your spiritual growth. The wise spiritual essence of you, or what we think of as our soul, is tapping the rest of you (physical, mental, emotional bodies) with a message that you’re ready for a change from the old ways of doing things in favor of something new.

And though it may seem a little crazy, when the soul is ready for something new it will get its way because growth through experience is what it’s after. It is calling you to let go of the mesmerizing bias of what you think you know and how you’ve always done things, so you can align with your true nature as a point of reference for the God Essence within.

This is the time to open yourself up to the possibility of a new possibility. This is the time to look at your what ifs. What if what you thought was true, isn’t? What if there’s much more to your creative power than you realize? What if you see reality as you were conditioned to see reality?

The total God Realization is in each of us, but we must do the work to realize our full potential. Think of the mighty oak tree that already lives within the acorn. Once the acorn drops onto the ground, it goes about its business and grows fulfilling the God potential within.

But unlike the acorn, we can delay our work forever with distractions and denial that will only serve to move us away from our core essence. If your goal is liberation from conditioning and true connection to the power within, then distraction is not helpful to that end.

Though it seems a great effort must be made to experience your true conscious nature on a permanent level, that really isn’t the case. Again, an acorn doesn’t labor in order to fulfill its potential, it simply aligns to the efficiency already inherent in its nature and does not impede the action of Life.

We can do that too. We are meant to. A willingness to take action however small but persistent, will achieve whatever the goal. The rate of success is always in your favor.

So how does a person keep a spark kindled for life when sometimes it can feel as if there isn’t a lot of enthusiasm in the living of it?

No more distractions. No more people pleasing or living solely for others. No more comparing yourself to anyone. And no more thinking of yourself as less than the limitless God nature that lives in you as you.

Then bring your focus completely to your expression of the life experience you are having. This is the prime awareness. Are you living completely YOU in every moment of every day? Are you learning as you? Not learning for others to teach others or to save others from trouble or pain. Are you learning for the natural Self that is expressing as you? Are you tapped into YOU? No one else.

You can’t be or live anyone else. Only you. As the acorn is not living for the rabbit or as the rabbit. It can’t. It is an acorn. Neither can it live as another oak tree. It is the wisdom of itself. No other. It will fulfill the beautiful potential of the God essence inside with all it has within.  

Do as the acorn and everything else is taken care of in the best way possible without all your efforting or needing to know your purpose. You are invited to stop what you “think” must happen in order for you to “be” what you “think” you need to be to fulfill your purpose. Like the acorn, there’s something already inside you that knows your next steps for growth.
